Middle Literate is a traveling literary reading series, based out of Champaign, Illinois.
We consider poetry, nonfiction, and fiction for selection. If your work is chosen, arrangements will be made to meet with you for an interview and to track a voice recording of you reading your piece(s). Writers will retain all rights, we only ask for non-exclusive audio rights.
At this time we are only able to consider work from Illinois and surrounding states (Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee).
Fiction and nonfiction should be no longer than 5,000 words. Please no genre fiction. Up to five poems at a time.
Please take into consideration you will be asked to read your work aloud. Check out our pilot episode for an example.
Response times will vary, but we promise no more than two months.
These will be posted on the Middle Literate Instagram account, as single photos.
